ESG reporting is marked new because it is new to most finance calendars — a low score there usually reflects how recently the reporting started, not underinvestment. Any area you don’t do at all can be left out entirely rather than scored.
How it works
Answer a short set of questions about how you run finance today. From your answers the model produces three things - a matrix, a score, and a number in pounds.
Rate each finance area — planning, close, consolidation, management reporting, forecasting, statutory and now ESG — from Manual (1) to Optimised (5). Assess all seven, or just the ones you want measured: each area gets its own score out of 100, and anything you leave out is left out rather than marked down. AI isn’t a separate box to tick. It’s the thing that makes level 5 reachable at all for most finance functions — which is why the score tells you how far off it you are, area by area.
The matrix rolls up into a single 0–100 score — one honest number for how mature your finance function is, and the one you can share with the board or your peers.
The gap is costed bottom-up, task by task — not the whole distance to level 5, but the part the technology can actually close. So “we should modernise finance” becomes a number that survives scrutiny.
